Helen Keller's Teacher

This biography is on Annie Sullivan, also known as Helen Keller’s teacher. She got bad eyes from a disease called trachoma. She and her family were poor and couldn’t afford treatment for her. Although some doctors gave free treatments, none of them worked on her. Her mother died from tuberculosis and her father was a drunkard.

Annie had to live with someone but none wanted her because she had anger tantrums. Thomas and Statia Sullivan took care of her until one day she got too out of hand and they sent her to a poor house called Tewks...
