Effect of heat treatment on Germination of
Acacia longifolia and Dillwynia floribunda

Abstract
The germination of two types of seeds Acacia longifolia and Dillwynia foribunda were studied after exposure to heat treatment. This was done by exposure to boiling water. Response to treatment was evaluated by final percentage of germination of each species after a time period.
There was a significant difference in response between the two species to the heat treatment. Acacia longifolia had higher germination percentage in the unheated group then in the group exposed to boiling water. While germination percentage in Dillwynia foribunda was much grater in the heated group, with very few seeds germinating in the unheated group.
