Health And Safety In The IT Industry

The lecture held by Ms. Godin on February 12th informed me about the health and safety issues that IT workers deal with. One of the points that caught my attention was when Ms. Godin talked mentioned the word “OH&S” which stands for Occupational health and safety. OH&S affects everybody that works in the IT industry because it is a guideline for people working in the IT industry, different companies have different OH&S and the worker’s are suppose to know about how the OH&S applies to them in their field. The companies are required to hire workers that are certified in WHMIS or train those workers, ergonomics, air quality, safety committee etc., These are some of the requirements of OH&S. If a worker or a IT company decides to ignore OH&S then the company and the worker will be violating the law.
