Hate Crimes

Hate crimes are “illegal acts directed at someone because of his or her ethnic group, gender, disability, or sexual orientation” Coleman & Kerbo, 2003, p. 453). “The government defines a hate crime as a criminal offense committed against a person, property, or society which is motivated, in whole or in part, by the offender’s bias against a race, religion, ethnic/national origin group, or sexual orientation group” (Schaefer, 2000, p. 43). It affects a society, which is so adamant about equality to all. Those who commit hat crimes impeach on the civil right of pursuit of happiness granted to every citizen of the United States in the Constitution of America.
The feminist perspective advocates for gay rights, which include gays and lesbians. The “liberal feminists also call for changes in the family, the school, and the mass media so that people will no longer be socialized into rigid gender roles and narrow expectation about proper sexual orientation, but will be allowed...
