Hard Happiness

Happiness is an eternally attractive apple that all people would like to pick. However, happiness is also a legendary Holy Grail, which seems to be merely an illusion for most people, in the quest of which they can only pray for it but never get it.

Everyone is seeking for happiness, however, the concept of happiness is different for everyone.
What then is happiness? One thousand people may have one thousand different answers. Thomas Jefferson said happiness was tranquility and occupation. Arthur Schopenhauer believed happiness was freedom from suffering. To Alfred Lord, happiness was the mastery of passions. To Mark Twain, happiness meant good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience. And somebody even said happiness was a mental state aided by wine, women and tobacco. For me, an ordinary young man, however, happiness means something different, it should be distinguished from ¡®fun¡¯ and ¡®pleasure¡¯.
