Hammurabi's Code

2. The code of Hammurabi reveals that in the Mesopotamian society there was a
strict justice system and an indefinite hierarchy. One who commits a crime against a noble
would be punished more severely than one who commits that same crime against a
commoner or slave. It seems also in the society as if women were held in much lower
regard. Women had far less privilege in marriage and a husband could divorce his wife if
