Gun Control

The Second Amendment states “ A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Meaning the original purpose of the Second Amendment was to preserve and make sure, not grant the pre-existing right of individuals, to own and bear arms. Although the amendment promotes the need for militia, membership in any militia let alone a well regulated one, is not held acountable to exercise the right to have, and bear arms. A person does not have to be in the militia to keep and bear arms. The militia is one reason to, but not the only rationale for preserving the right.
U.S. vs. Cruikshank involved individuals of the Ku Klux Klan, taking away the black victims basic rights such as freedom of assembly and to keep and bear arms. The court decided neither the First or Second Amendments applied to the states, but were restraints on congress. So the Federal Government had no power to correc...
