Greek Orthodox Church

The Orthodox Church is a variant of Christianity resulting from the schism of 1054. This includes the Greek, Antiochian, Serbian and Romanian Orthodox churches each with similar beliefs and practices.

The Greek Orthodox Church believes that God is the Creator of heaven and earth. The Nicene Creed is seen as the base of fundamental orthodox beliefs and is known as the “Symbol of faith”. The Greek orthodox faith is expressed through worship.

Worship can be expressed through words and prayers as well as hymns, gestures, processions and symbols. Worship ideally involves one’s intellect, feelings and senses and is believed to break the barriers of society, time and space.

The Orthodox Church worships as members of a parish in the surrounding of both living and the dead. Worship within the Orthodox Church is represented through the Eucharist, the sacraments, special services and blessings and daily services and prayer.
