Grace Matters and Gordon

As Gordon prepares to let in ten black students on a full scholarship next year I am left to ponder why this is happening. I can think of several good reasons to allow in a diverse group of students, no doubt the campus needs more integration. However, I am left with a lot of bewilderment over the issue. I have tried to convince myself that the policy is entirely good, however when I have looked at a few of my friends financial situations and their grades I can not see as much good in the diversity plan. The book Grace Matters showed a community that faced racial mixing and explained the problems that arouse in their community as well as the benefits of combining white and black in one community. As Gordon is admitting more black students and the students are deciding to come here our community may face a small shock wave of change and outreach from our comfort zones.
