Gorillas

The gorilla is the largest of the great apes and also the closest

living relative of the human species. Gorillas DNA is only 2.3%

different from humans but humans did not evolve from gorillas.

Humans and gorillas just took different evolutionary paths about ten

million years ago.



Gorillas are one of the most feared animals in the world due to

movies like King Kong. Yes Gorillas are large, powerful, and also

intimidating but they can be gentle and affectionate creatures as well.

The Mountain Gorilla is a peaceful herbavore (vegetarian). The males

are very patient as their young climb all over them. Gorillas are not

aggresive unless they are threatened directly.



Gorillas have been classified as a single species for many years,

the genus Gorilla. Recently genetic evidence showed there should be

two different species. The Western and Eastern Gorilla each
