At the age of 86, Thomas Lebowski, owner of the multi-million dollar corporation Canal Barge Company (CBC) died today due natural causes. Mr. Lebowski was the originator, owner, and CEO of the nations largest riverboat transporting company. Canal Barge Company (CBC) is an organization that moves products throughout all the nations navagatable waterways. The riverboat industry in the U.S. is very different from all other means of transportation. The federal government and Coast Guard loosely regulate the industry. Before 1996, company boats were not even required to carry life preservers. Many of the employees are men of an older generation who are resentful of government regulation and modern safety guidelines.
