GLOBALIZATION AND YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

Globalization is an inexorable process. In recent years, more and more countries from all continents cast their lots with globalization with the hope to prosper in this exceedingly complicated world. And just as UN secretary general Kofi Annan has aptly put it: “In any development strategy aimed at spreading the benefits of globalization, employment must be a central goal”, and young people- the future leaders of the new millennium- do play a crucial role.
Globalization has brought about numerous opportunities for economic developments through technology transfer, foreign direct investments (FDI) etc. That means more new and challenging jobs in information and communication technology, biotechnology, nuclear physics, petrochemistry etc. are waiting in store for skilled youth, who may help their developing countries leapfrog certain phases of development. It is incontrovertible to claim that globalization lays the corner-stone for a new, upscale generation known as yuppies...
