‘Giants and Seashores’ - Explain


Isaac Newton, a great mathematician and scientist, said several famous quotes. Two of them go as follows:-

Quote One:
‘If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.’

Quote Two:-
‘I do not know how I appear to the world, but to myself, I seem to have been only like a boy, playing on the seashore, diverting myself now and then; finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay before me’ (full version).


I am going to analyse these quotes, finding out what I think he meant by them, and I am going to try to find why I think he said it.

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas day, 1842, in Woolsthorpe; a village in Lincolnshire.
