Ghandi

Both Ghandi and Swami Vivekananda did not think that idol worship was wrong in regards to Hindu religion. Ghandi felt that is was a form of symbolism. He said it was no different than religious objects that have special meaning in Christianity and other religions. For instance our cross is a religious symbol and we give it great respect. Ghandi said that Hindus did not believe that their idols were God but just a physical representation of their God. It helped them to visual and stay focused during prayer.
