George Ellery Hale

George Ellery Hale was not your average astronomer. Hale did more for study of astronomy during his time than most. Hale was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 29, 1868. Hale was a very anxious and intense child. This would lead him to three mental breakdowns in his lifetime. Hale was a person who had many troubles during his lifetime, but he seemed to succeed even through all these troubles.
Hale was a very smart person and he took advantage of this throughout his life. He first attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology were he invented the Spectroheliograph. An instrument used to measure solar prominences in the daytime. His main work as an astronomer was solar science. While studying solar science he wrote some 450 articles and books on this topic.
