The film opens with a text from the Bible –"Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked?" It continues to tell how our civilisation may, in the not too distant future, attempt to do this.
Due to the recent burst of technology over the last 15 years, genetically modifying humans sounds closer than it is far. If so the possibilities will be endless. We can give birth to 8ft giants with IQ’s of 200. Why not. Wouldn’t you rather have a son that you can be proud of. Who wouldn’t get picked on at school or beaten up. Or have the best chance of a great career and earn a lot of money. This is one possibility. But while you are contemplating whether you want an international basketballer or a prime minister, think about this. If everyone is perfect, who will collect your garbage or deliver your mail or put the pickle on your cheeseburger at mc donalds.
