Garden of Delight
Some might think that Carlos Saura slipped one past the censors in The Garden of Delight. The Garden of Delight was written by Carlos Saura in 1971, when Franco was still alive. Actually, I feel the censors knew what they were getting themselves into, they just simply felt the public would not understand. The public was very confused at first, but as the years went on more and more has come out about Saura’s symbolism of Franco and his regime. In this essay, I will inform you of the symbolism that Saura brilliantly used in his film The Garden of Delight. Some of the themes that Saura emphasized in The Garden of Delight are family, communism, memory and amnesia, trust, and silence.
