FTP Tutorial FTP Commands by NightSoft Introduction The FTP is a service that has been around since 1973 when it was finally (after a lot of proposed ideas about File Transfer Mechanisms) completed. The main objectives of the FTP are (as defined in the Rfc 959) 1) Promote sharing of file (computer programs or data) 2) to shield an user for variation in file storage systems among hosts 3) to transfer data reliably and effitiently. FTP FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, this protocol runs on port 21 and allows users with valid accounts to upload and download files. This protocol was designed thinking in a Client/server model, so the user would be able to use it from a terminal. To use it the User invoke an FTP client, just typing 'FTP' (Windows Users should type 'FTP' at the Command Prompt of in the < Run > window at < Start > (easy heh... :) ) ...yeah windows has it... you didn't know..?? dont worry there a bunch of guys out there just like you...they dont e...
