From Runk to Rykov

The Butterfly Revolution, like Animal Farm, could be compared to the Russian Revolution. With characters that symbolize Stalin, Lenin, Rykov, and the Czarist government. It shows a revolt against the establishment, and betrayal once the revolutionary government becomes the establishment.
In the book a bunch kids at a summer camp revolt against the head of the camp and the counselors because they weren’t able to do what they wanted to do. They were only doing what the counselors thought were fun. The counselors and head of the camp represent the Czarist monarch government particularly the reign of Nicholas I. His reign was very dictatorial but he did what he thought was best for the country. He did do some good though with the codification of existing Russian law. His ideas also suppressed liberal thinking. Because of this and the succession of his Nicholas II the Russian revolution took form.
