Franklin’s Tone
Benjamin Franklin is a world renowned writer, and essayist, his works have become strong literary works in American history. He has had strong perspectives and opinions in various subjects. One in which he shows the attitude of the early missionaries toward the Indian culture, and religion. “Remarks Concerning the Savage of North America”, is an essay in which two men are discussing their beliefs in a certain area of their religion. The Swedish minister explains the story of Adam and Eve, where they eat an apple, and must be saved my Christ. The Swedish minister reveals this history with much pride, and is appreciated by the Indian orator. Thus the Indian orator begin to tell a tale of two young hunters, who gave a piece of their catch to a beautiful woman who needed food, and how the two young men were soon rewarded for their kindness. After explaining this tale to the missionary, he became disgusted, and refused to even think twice at the chan...
