For School Board Hopefuls In The Wake County, Taxing Issues

The Wake County School Board has no right to levy taxes. However, this election season, board candidates find
themselves fielding plenty of questions about raising taxes. This issue has been a problem since August.
Candidates have been debating against how taxes should be dealt with, and how its affecting the educational
system. The inquires come steadily along the campaign trail of Metro stops, supermarkets and fire houses: Why

Candidates weigh their responses carefully. They have no power over pledging to lower the taxes, neither dose
the board have any control on setting the tax rate. They can not single out programs to cut because each one has
