FMLA

The Family and Medical Leave Act
After intensive research we concluded that there were many factors that led to the creation of the FMLA. This law was created to benefit families where the husband and wife both work, the growing importance of both parents being present in early childhood development, and inadequate job security for people with serious health conditions. There are costs to the FMLA as well, however, ideally this law will promote family integrity, enable parents to take care of their children after birth, and secure employment for unhealthy people.
Before discussing the potential benefits and drawbacks of the FMLA, it is important to understand what the law is. Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 requires employers to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to “eligible” employees for certain family and medical reasons.
