First Baby
The instant I found out I was having a baby for the first time; anxieties of what was to come were overwhelming. I was nineteen years old, unmarried, and scarred to death of forever being someone’s mother. It was February 17, 1995 when the doctor came in the exam room and confirmed the results of the pregnancy test. At that moment I grasped what was to occur being discomforts, inevitable changes in the body, doctor’s visits and difficulties that may arise in the course of pregnancy until delivery.
During the months that followed life was fairly normal. Morning sickness was non-existent and working a job was still possible until maternity leave was available. As the changes with my body began taking place during the second trimester of pregnancy, I realized my clothing was not fitting anymore and I was tired all the time. Now that it was physically obvious that I was pregnant no longer could I sleep on my stomac...
