First and Second noble Truths in Buddhism

The First Noble Truth is life is suffering, or dukkha. There is at least one constant in everyone's life and that is suffering. Just as Emily Dickenson put it there will always be pain, most of life is pain. There are good times in life, but is it the true happiness that can stay forever. "And Pleasure is but a mask for pain." (Oxenham, John) Life seems to be filled with these moments of "masked pain".
