Fire brake foam


This case study report is on the fire-fighting chemical, fire brake foam, invented by Canadian chemist Ted Schaefer.
Ted Schaefer, who works for 3M developed a chemical that added to water, makes foam that helps extinguish fires more effectively than water.
Dr Ted Schaefer was born a native Manitoban.
He went to the university on Manitoba where he received his undergraduate education, then went and studied at Oxford. After that he went back to Manitoba and joined the department of chemistry and in 1982 he was given the title of University Distinguished Professor.
He then went to work at 3M where he designed a chemical when added to water it increases the dowsing effect by 5 times. His chemical is now being used worldwide to help firefighters combat fires.

Dr Schaefer designed a chemical named fire brake that when added to water, created foam which helps to put out fires five times more effective than normal water.
