Film Elements of Pretty Woman

Cinematic and dramatic elements:

Camerawork (angles, types of shots, movement, length of shots, etc):
Throughout the movie, the camera is focused on facial shots. This is used to illustrate in full effect of the character’s feelings and emotions. Most of Julia Roberts emotions are felt through her facial expressions, not what she says. Many different angles are explored throughout this film as if to show everything from every point of view possible. This diversity of angles is in a way symbolic of the diversity of classes and people represented in the film. The length of the shots is not extremely long, fitting in with the diversity of camera angles used.
Editing:
The editing throughout the movie is very smooth and well done. It does not jump around from scene to scene or without chronological order, it goes in a smooth, easily followed sequence that helps move the viewer along at a steady pace while absorbing it all.
