Figurative Language in Beauty: When the Other Dancer Is the Self

This piece is full of vivid descriptions, which helped me to visualize what was happening. The author uses imagery to accomplish this. She describes her father as being a fat, funny man with beautiful eyes and a subversive wit. Another example was her detailed description of her clothing… “Green, flocked, scalloped-hem dress with smooth satin petticoat and tiny-hot pink roses tucked into each scallop.
