Fahrenheit 451

1). Montag doesn’t know the truth about the past of firemen, because all of the history books about firemen have been burned. He believes that homes have always been fireproof. He doesn’t know that in the past firemen extinguished fires rather than set them.
This illustrates Bradbury’s message that books give us information, describe our history, and teach us many things. Books have a life of their own. Without books, people have a limited view of life and the world.

2) The parlor wall is a wall with a huge three dimensional television. Sometimes it displays scenes like ocean waves or makes a room look like all kinds of exotic people’s rooms. Also, people like Mildred can mail in box tops for a script. The script is written with a missing part that the viewer acts out along with the actors who are in the play shown on the screen.
