Fall

The top of the tower was no more than ten meters from me, through the powerful distortion of a lens built by fear and trepidation, the summit seemed insurmountably distant. My fist step onto the ladder did nothing to assuage my uncertainties, the coarse sandpaper matting grinding against the water-softened skin on the bottom of my feet.
