In anticipation of tomorrow's 4 p.m. mandatory cutdown to the 53-man roster, the Falcons announced today that 16 players have been waived and one has been suspended by the NFL. The Falcons waived six veterans, six first-year players and four rookies, including two draft choices.
The Falcons waived veterans C Kevin Dogins, DE Ronald Flemons, DE Reggie Grimes, T Robert Hicks, WR MarTay Jenkins and G Michael Moore, first-year players RB Jeff Chaney, LB James Cotton, T Dwayne Morgan, LB Tony Ortiz, QB David Rivers and CB Jason Waters and rookies S Waine Bacon, WR Jon Olinger, DE Raymond House and LB Recardo Wimbush.
The NFL announced today that LB Keith Newman has been suspended for the first four games of the regular-season for a violation of the NFL policy on anabolic steroids and related substances, effective immediately.
