Introduction:
The use of chromatography to study the solubility of common artificial food dyes in everyone’s favourite candies and chocolates. The solubility of these food dyes is important because the appeal of these tasty confections would be non-existent. The solubility relates as to how well the molecules of the hard coating bond to these dyes. With out this bonding between the molecules all of the confections will have the same white colour. The usage of these important dyes is that they can be used as a marketing ploy, such as the M&M’s global colour vote, it can cause people who eat the candies to understand that the company respects their opinion. The solubility of these dyes is important as the candies without colour would not be sold and as a result a 940 million dollars (US) industry would not be existent.
