In this essay I am exploring the theme of marriage in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I will look at what the writer is trying to say about their own time. To do this I will look at three main marriages, these are Mr and Mrs Bennet, Charlotte Lucas and Mr Collins and Darcy and Elizabeth. I will investigate how they came about and what comments the writer is trying to make about marriage through these characters. I studied the book and annotated it as I went along; I also watched the video and explored how the theme of marriage was being presented here.
