Explain the differences and relationships between morality, ethics and meta-ethics using a case study from a recent news report and the extracts you have been provided with.

Morality and ethics are often thought to be the same thing, but in fact they most certainly are not. In this assignment I aim to show the differences between them using my extracts.

The first article I am considering is concerned with the recent story of the 46 year old man who ran off with a fourteen year old girl. I unfortunately, of course, do not know the morals of the man, but I will use my own ideas to illustrate my point for the purpose of this assignment.

I would guess if you asked the man in question before the situation he would say that being with a fourteen year old girl, and pulling her away from her parents would be against his moral standing. In this situation he went against what his morals would say in theory, and we therefore would look at this as a part of his ‘ethics’.

I would define morals as the theoretical views we have on whether actions are right or wrong. Eth...
