My speech today is over assisted suicide or Euthanasia. I am for euthanasia. I think that if a person is suffering from a terminal illness and has very little or no chance at all at living and their wish is to die peacefully, than that wish should be granted. Doctors are there to help the patient out and give them what they want. People say that is barbaric but to me, I think that it is more barbaric to sit there while someone that you love and care about is dying and they have asked to be put to sleep and go peacefully. I think that deliberately keeping them alive to endure the pain and suffering of their illness is very unethical. Just like we have the right to life, we also have the right to death. Many people overlook that point of view. I know that if I were dying or lying in a vegetative state with no hope for surviving, I wouldn’t want to suffer nor would I want my family to have to suffer.
