European Union

The EU is a “union” of fifteen European countries. There were originally only six countries that joined, but then after four different times another nine joined. The original six to join were, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. The first addition of countries included Denmark, Ireland, and the United Kingdom in 1973. The second addition was in 1981 and included the country Greece. In 1986 there was yet a third addition of countries, which included the countries Spain and Portugal. The fourth and thus – far last addition of countries into the EU was the addition of Austria, Finland, and Sweden.
Now after 15 countries you could say that the EU is bigger then ever. Add to that the idea if the addition of 13 new Eastern and Southern European countries.
