Ethics and Surveillance


Video surveillance is the use of cameras to watch, spy, or just to check up

on someone that you think might be doing something wrong. Video surveillance is a

ethical way of watching people under the circumstances that it is being used the right

way, and it's for a purpose of catching someone doing something wrong either at

a workplace or at home. The two types of video surveillance used is overt

surveillance, which is the use of cameras which are in plain sight, and covert

surveillance, which is the use of hidden cameras. Both of these types of surveillance

are completely ethical if the rules are followed for each one.

Covert surveillance is the use of video cameras that are hidden, and cannot be

detected by the human eye. I think covert surveillance is perfectly ethical as long as

the rules are followed for the use of it. Covert surveillance can be used at a job
