In the April 10, 2000 edition of the U. S. News and World Report, writer Linda Kulman tackles the issue of same-sex unions (marriages). Kulman focuses on the Reform Jews stance on performing same-sex ceremonies. Kulman also touches on the fact of how Orthodox and Conservative Jews differ in their beliefs on this matter, which sheds light on how many religions across the world struggle to make ends meet when dealing with the issue of homosexuality. Kulman’s views on the issue seem to lean to the defense of same-sex unions. The writer tends to focus more on the reasons why same-sex unions should be the norm, which leads one to believe that the writer is sympathetic to the cause. Also, the last line of the article, although not a quote from the author, states: “more families will be experiencing same-sex unions as a joy and not as a curse.”
