Essay on the the production of A day in teh death of Joe Egg

In the production of “A day in the death of Joe Egg”, Alison Ross’ set design enhances the overall effect of the production by the effective use of the elements of set design. Also the effective use of the drama elements as well, enhances the dramatic performance.

The drama elements include human context, dramatic tension, focus, place, mood, time, language, movement and symbols. Out of all these elements language is the only one that does not or have much relation directly towards the set design. This can provide physical context in which the drama is to be played out.

Just as all of these are elements of drama there are also elements of design. These include line, mass, shape, space, colour, tone and texture. The set that Alison Ross’ used will be reviewed to examine how the elements were incorporated into the design of the set, furniture and props.
