ermo

Ermo is a film directed by Zhou Xiaowen about the contrasts between modern city life in China and the old fashioned rural life near the turn of the 21st century. Inventions like televisions and trucks are now readily available even in the most rural of environments in China, but they are unusual. Ermo's struggle to earn enough money to buy a television is a testament to how much China has changed in the past couple of decades, because during Mao's reign, accumulation of personal wealth was prohibited.
