Ethics Under Fire

What virtues do we expect from the people that govern our country and make the most important decisions on our behalf? Maybe we don’t expect them to have an identical morality to each of us, but I do believe we demand they uphold a certain level of ethics common to our way of life. Isn’t this why we have a Constitution? Aren’t all Americans equal in the eyes of the government and the law, regardless of race, gender and sexual orientation?

Howard Coble of Greensboro and Sue Myrick of Charlotte, both Republican House members from North Carolina, don’t seem to share this belief that we are all equal. This I say after reading the generalized statements they have made about certain minority ethnic groups.
