English language investigation - A comparison of Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club with its film adaptation.

Introduction

I am interested in studying the differences between the language of a modern novel that uses an unorthodox writing style, and the film of the same story. Chuck Palaniuk’s Fight Club was released before the film, however it was the film that brought the story popularity and recognition. One of the most interesting aspects of this book is the way in which the author has manipulated the narrative for dramatic effect. I wish to investigate how this unique writing style has been translated to film.

Besides looking at how the film has been adapted from the book, I aim to discover if any features of spoken interaction have been included in the film script to make the film seem more realistic.
