I think a person that has been murdered or died mysteriously should be embalmed. In case further evidence is needed on how they died and why. But, a person that has died of a natural cause should not be embalmed, because no other research is necessary.
For instance if one of my family members was found died without explanation. I would want the body preserved in case more evidence was needed year...
