EMIC VS ETIC VIEWS OF SEX TRADE WOMEN OF THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT

There are many different stand points or approaches one can take when manifesting a comparison of two entirely different or slightly similar topics. For the purposes of our comparison of the Japanese Geisha and the sex trade girls of Amsterdam we determined that a comparison of emic vs etic views would prove to be the most effective. Since an Emic view is a subjective internal observation and relies heavily on ones opinion or cultural sensitivity in a specific area we embarked on a small survey project including our peers and school mates to make up our sample. On the other end of our comparison, the etic view considers objective external observations based on fact uninfluenced by emotion. The later were comprised mainly from our readings and internet research and are not inclusive of our personal thoughts and opinions of this extremely sensitive topic.
