Appearance

A female elf owl is an average of 6.1 inches with a wingspan of 15 inches and weighs an average of 1.5oz. for breeding. The male is an average length of 5.8 inches with a wingspan of 14.6 inches long, wingspan of 15 inches. They have a round head with no ear tufts. Owls can turn their heads 270 degrees. Their ear openings are a different levels, this enables the owl to get a fix on the sound made by a prey animal.
Plumage is brownish-grey overall, and is washed with white on the belly and cinnamon on the face. Cinnamon or buffy spots dot the forehead and wings. And irregular white stripe runs down the feathers, with irregular white spots running along the outer edge of the folded wings. A broken white collar runs along the lower nape.
