El Greco

Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475 in Tuscany. He was the second of five brothers and son to parents Ludovico di Leonardo di Buonarotto Simoni and Francesca Neri. Michelangelo’s mother died when he was very young at the age of six years old. This wasn’t even the beginning of his childhood sadness. Out of shyness and lack of trust of other people outside of his family he was sort of a loner. His father, the only parent he had left, soon realized that he was very smart and sent him to a school. Here Michelangelo started to learn the principles of Latin.
Michelangelo’s family was never very rich and soon they were starting to lose money. His father Lodvico decided that he would invest in his son’s future hoping that through hard work in his studies Michelangelo would become a successful merchant or businessman.
