It is my intention to analyse a reading activity taken from a EFL course book and suggest some improvements in order to make it more interesting for the learners. I believe that whenever choosing any material to be used in the language classroom, the teacher should bear in mind the specific context in which the material will be used. According to Nunan (1999) in a Communicative Language Teaching environment which favours learner centeredness , curricula are designed in a collaborative and negotiated effort with the students, and analysing learners’ needs. In this particular educational setting learners usually contribute ideas regarding the topics dealt with and on occasions suggest language structures they would like to learn about. For this lesson, I am suggesting the topic and the activities I believe will be of their interest.
