Effective Child Discipline

All parents at some time have experienced frustration and stress due to various factors throughout their average day and come home to have their children screaming and whining or complaining. The parent just wants things to calm down and for their children to calm down too. If you cannot just tell them to settle down then what can you do? Should you slap them around, put them in a corner, or just let them continue on with themselves?
