Edward Wadsworth (1889-1949)

Edward Wadsworth was born on the 29th October 1889 in Clekheaton, Yorkshire, the son of a wealthy worsted spinning magnate. Studied engineering at Munich 1906 but became more interested in painting, attending the Knirr School in his spare time. On returning to England went to Bradford School of Art, where he gained a scholarship to the Slade School. Studied at the Slade 1908-12.

Exhibited in the Friday Club at the Alpine Club Gallery, February 1912 and January-February 1913. Included in the last month (January 1913) of the Second Post-Impressionist Exhibition. Joined the Omega Workshop s...
