Education Problem in My Experience

In the essay ¡°Back to Basics: Test Scores Don¡¯t lie¡±, Diane Ravitch promotes some

existing problems in American education system. First, it¡¯s sex discrimination. Girls who

got good grades are ¡°socially handicapped¡±. The popular culture wants the girl better to

be popular, sexy than to be intelligent. Secondly, ¡°Peer group pressure¡± discourages the

student¡¯s academic achievement. Thirdly, there is no strong core curriculum in most

American school. Fourthly, some serious cultural problems undermine education

achievement. At the end of the essay, Diane wants us to find an effective way to solve

those educational problems and improve the academic achievement.
