Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) - What is it?
"Digital Subscriber Line" or DSL for short, is a "modem-like" technology that allows for the transmission of voice, video and data over existing telephone lines at megabit speeds.
DSL services uses the high frequency spectrum on the same lines that deliver voice service to home and business users. This means that both voice and data can run simultaneously without the need for additional phone lines or other connections to the ISP.
DSL Advantages
The great thing about DSL is it uses the unused bandwidth that already exists on your phone line. Your phone service will continue to operate the same way as it did before DSL was installed. This means you can surf the Internet and still be able to pick up the phone and make a phone call, and all on a single phone line.
